How do you Style a Couch with Pillows?

There’s nothing I love more than sitting on a comfortable couch at the end of the day, except maybe photographing a couch that has been styled with beautiful pillows. So, let’s talk about how to style a couch with pillows!

The amazing part about couch pillows is that you can change them with the season, your mood, or really whenever you want. So, let us talk about how to style a couch with decorative pillows.

Here are a few things to consider when picking out the style of pillows for your couch:

Use different-sized pillows.
Change up the pattern.
Find pillows with various textures.
Decorate with odd numbers to better please the eye.
Double-sided pillows are better than single-sided ones.

As you decide what pillows to use, don’t be afraid to go big! Bigger pillows may be harder to find in big-box stores, but they add a richer look, so they are worth the work to find.

My favorite pillows are filled with down feathers. This makes the pillows more moldable and they can last longer. A lot of designers like to “karate chop” the middle of the pillow to give it a more natural look. Down pillows are the way to match that look!

Zippers and buttons are your friends! I love my kids and they are good at getting things dirty. So, I like being able to pull the covers off the pillow to wash them when they inevitably get dirty.

Finally, try out different embellishments. Fringe, braided trim, beads, or tassels can add a fun look!
